Well...
Sarah and I set out a bit late, as it had been really still and sunny
yesterday, and was still and rainy this morning, so we weren't expecting to
go windsurfing.
We got to the Estuary at 4pm, and there were two people sailing and planing
comfortably on big boards and and biggish sails (nowt ridiculous like a 12
meter or anything stupid). :)
So we rigged our 6.4 Manitous. We were just about to get out when one guy
came off. So the other guy set off towards Aberdyfi. I soon discovered why.
The wind had dropped and I was finding it a bit marginal, so I set off
towards Aberdyfi, but had to go round the corner to get near there and
ended up walking on the sandbar. So I came back to where Sarah was.
The wind started to pick up, and it steadily increased for the rest of the
session.
So we started blasting across in the bay on the Ynyslas side, and because
the wind was good we were both attempting Carve gybes at each turn.
The guy at Aberdyfi came back and joined us for a bit.
We are now sitting down to watch Harty's "Turn for the Better" to go
through the gybe.
We were consistently getting round carving, but lost our speed. So although
we have some way to go we really improved today and I also made a couple of
waterstarts.
All in all it was a good wind, the water was warm, it was sunny, and we
both sailed to the best of our ability, so a perfect day.
And now I'm going to have a drink. :o)
